I’ve been tagged by the fabulous Katherine Bone to participate in The Next Big Blog Tour. Unfortunately I’m a week late. Sorry Katherine. You can visit Katherine to see what’s going on at http:katherinebone.wordpress.com.
*Ella, what is the working title of your next book?
Right now it’s the fifth book in my series The Marriage Game, The Courtship of Miss Eugénie Villaret, though that was changed from The Unfortunate Courtship of Eugénie Villaret. At this point, the title is as much a work in progress as the book.
*Do you have a muse?
Yes indeed. She came to visit about two years ago and made herself right at home.
How does she give you ideas for your books?
She sends me video, which is interesting as I’m not much of a TV watcher or movie goer. I get images in my head. As many of you have read before, Lady Phoebe in the Seduction of Lady Phoebe was pacing angrily. In The Secret Life of Miss Anna Marsh, two men, obviously up to no good, were huddled in a tavern in Whitecastle. I won’t go through all the books here, but you get the idea. After she gives me that, I have to take the threads of it and figure out what’s going on and where we go from there.
*What genre do your books fall under? Regency Historical romance. I’ve never even thought about writing anything else.
*If you get the call to have your books turned into movies, what actors would you choose to play the part of your characters?
I totally fail at this question. I never use actors as inspiration, so I don’t keep up and really don’t have any idea.
*Regale us with a one-sentence synopsis of your book?
I will give you the one for The Seduction of Lady Phoebe which is on pre-order and releases on September 19th. The Seduction of Lady Phoebe is about a woman afraid to love and the man who will only marry her.
*How are you publishing your books?
I have a contract with Kensington Books for the first three novels.
*How long did it take you to go from your first draft to being offered your publishing contract?
I was offered representation by my agent about eight months after I first began Lady Phoebe. She sent the first three books out on submission in June, and I got the offer in December. So, about twenty months.
*What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
To my great delight, my books have been compared to the great Georgette Heyer’s, though they are much spicier.
* Who or what inspired you to write this book? I’ve always loved the Regency era, but as to what inspired me to begin writing, it was a comment made by an author in an interview, where she said, “write what you read.” All of a sudden, everything fell into place.
*What else about the books might pique the readers’ interests? My novels are fast paced, humorous, with secondary characters who like to get in on the action either helping or hindering my hero and heroine.

Thank you, Lani.
Great interview! I’ve already preordered the Seduction of Lady Phoebe and can’t wait to read it. Glad you have a muse. They are so helpful when you get stuck. Wishing you all the best of success.
Hi Karla, thank you so much for pre-ordering and for your good wishes. My muse is usually very helpful.

Thank you, Maria. I appreciate that so much!
Super interview, ladies!
Thanks, D’Ann.
Wonderful interview!!
Jennifer, thank you.
How interesting that your muse gives you video. Mine is stingy and usually just gives me one idea about one character to work with. Still waiting for September when my copy of The Seduction of Lady Phoebe will magically appear on my iPad.
Well she played games with me on this last book by giving me the ending first. Not helpful.
I’m so glad Phoebe will magically appear!!
great post, Ella!
Thank you, Georgia!
I liked your answers Ella. I’ll give you and A+ on quality on answers, but I’ve got to knock it down a bit for tardiness. So you get an A overall.
Well, an A is not too bad. Thank you, Liza.
Loved your answers, Ella! That is soo awesome that you’re already writing book #5 in the series! You go, lady! 😀
Enjoyed your interview, Ella, and I love Georgette Heyer too.
