Happy Sunday! I’ve finally recovered from the Romantic Times Readers Convention! It was so great to meet some of you there!
Let’s start with winners! Congratulations to Carol Cork who won a copy of Collette Cameron’s book and Ki Pha who won Ally Broadfield’s book!!
The street team is becoming a reality. Congratulations to Ki Pha who picked the winning name, The Quinsters! I’ve set up the Facebook page. Please let me know if you’d like to join.
Because I didn’t get to post on my blog at all and only posted a little on Facebook and Twitter. I’ll leave you with some pictures of RT and New Orleans.
Here I am at the Kensington float for the RT Mardi Gras Parade.
Finally I have real books to sign. Hmm, that eight more pounds to loose should probably be fifteen.
These snow globes were lovely.
One cannot have RT without male models who obviously like romance books.
For those of you who know, beignets are a huge deal in New Orleans. I’m not a powdered sugar fan so I asked for mine naked. The server knew what she was doing and gave me a separate bag of powdered sugar. They really are better with it.
My only day to walk around the French Quarter. It reminds me a lot of the Caribbean.
On Sunday we had the SOS Military Tribute. I sang with the Army, of course, but here are Lindsey McKenna and the Navy group.
Eileen Dreyer has a number of family members that have served, so she sang with more than one group.
Kim from SOS Aloha Blog puts the tribute together every year. Here is a video she did of pictures sent by readers as well as seven of us Rom-vets. Please take time to look at it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75zN5FwdGqY&feature=youtu.be
How was your week. Did you get to RT? Will you attend the one next year in Dallas?
Ella
I don’t think I’ll ever get to go unless they change the dates or I retire. It always falls during graduation! Looks like you had a fantastic time. The snow globe looks like a wonderful keepsake! Glad to have you back!
You’ll retire soon, Jenna! I can’t wait for you to go. I’m glad to be back. I really do drop off line during these things.
I’m a winner! Congratulations to Ki as well and for picking the winning Street Team name. I’d love to join the Quinsters.
Great photos and it looks as though you had a wonderful time. I do like the snow globe and those male models look rather yummy as well. I’m hoping to make it to one of the conventions, maybe in 2016.
RWA is in NYC in 2016. That’s pretty easy to get to from your island, but, other than the signing, it’s mostly for authors. RT is in Dallas. I added you to the Street Team, Carol.
Maybe, I’ll aim for Dallas in 2016. Thank you for adding me to your Street Team.
Oops, sorry. It’s in Dallas next year. I can’t find where it will be in 2016. I’ll ask on Facebook. Someone should know.
It’s in Las Vegas in 2016.
Thanks, Ella. Viva Las Vegas!
Not my favorite place, Carol, but I’ll be happy to see you!
I’m glad your server brought you the powdered sugar! That’s my favorite part — not just because it suits the beignets but because I enjoy the mess–sugar everywhere! Weird but true.
It was great seeing you again, Ella, as well as some other friends, and meeting some new people too. :~))
I’m so glad we got together, Barbara. We need to plan something for RWA as well.
I looks like so much fun! Hopefully I’ll be going next year but we’ll see. I want to be part of your street team, please. What do I need to do?
Hi Joanna, thank you! Are you on Facebook? You can search for The Quinsters and ask to join the group.
Yes , I am and follow you there too. I tried looking for the page but didn’t find it 😦
I thought you did. Try this. https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheQuinsters/
I did get to RT. It was a great experience to meet fans who loved meeting writers, even ones just starting out like me.. Much different than RWA where writers roam the halls and fill the bars.
LOL, Ursula, I don’t know where you were, but that bar was so full it was hard to find a place to sit most of the time! The main difference is that RWA is for authors to take classes and network about the business of writing. RT is for readers to meet authors.
Great pictures Ella. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Debbie, and you’re welcome!
Woohoo!! Today has been a busy and hectic day but it was great coming onto here and seeing this surprise! Yay for the Quinnsters! And for my prize!
And I’m super glad you were well enough for RT and had a blast! I’m nlmaking plans for RT next year and RWA is on my list too but….I’m still contemplating.
Congratulations on your wins, Ki Pha!!
I starve when I’m in New Orleans. Everything’s unhealthy.
Glad you had a great time.
I got exhausted just looking at the pictures.
I spent the whole day playing. Made a bunch of book covers and then went hiking. There were people in my woods, but we managed to avoid them all. (I’ve cut my own private trails). I feel bad for the peeps who have to use the official trail. One section of my trail is used by everybody now except the four wheelers who illegally drive on the other trail and have turned it into an excellent to twist your ankle. Fortunately, my trail isn’t wide enough for 4 wheelers, so it’s safe from their abuse.
I’m glad you had a good day, Liza!
Congratulations to the winners!
It looks like you had a blast at RT. I so want to go to one of these.
Stacey, you really should!
Gorgeous pic!
Thank you, Flossie!
Looking fab, Ella!
I loved NOLA when I went a few years ago. That chicory coffee is amazing. The Café du Monde is a must.
