As we head into summer, I thought I’d give you some beach or garden reading, so please welcome Emma Kaye to the blog. She is here to tell you about her book, In Her Dreams, a Regency time-travel which takes place in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, and is part of  an anthology called Timeless Escapes: A Collection of Summer Stories.

Here is the cover.

Now for the blurb:

Author Winnie Boyle finds more in the U.S. Virgin Islands than the inspiration she sought for her latest novel. When she reads from an old journal she finds on the beach, she’s transported to another time and place—literally. She assumes it’s all just a dream when she finds herself in Regency England. Surely the gorgeous Viscount Bastian Caulfield and his sweetly innocent sister couldn’t be real.

The dream quickly turns to a nightmare when she can’t wake up and realizes something sinister is at work. Someone’s trying to kill Bastian and Winnie’s been brought back in time to save him. How? She has no idea. But time’s running out.

Can she escape this crazy dream with her mind and body intact? Because it may be too late for her heart…

And an excerpt:

His gaze raked her from head to toe, pausing at her midsection where the dangling ruby-red gemstone on her belly ring matched the polka dots on her barely-there bikini.

She wasn’t as brave or brazen as the heroines in her novels. They’d have stuck out their chest and propped a hand on their hip before asking the beast if he liked what he saw.

She crossed one arm across her stomach, the other over her breasts.

But damn it! She was on vacation.

Or dreaming.

Why should she be embarrassed? Her bathing suit wasn’t exactly modest, but she’d seen worse.

Only, she wasn’t on the beach. Standing next to two fully dressed people—actually, two overdressed people—was unnerving. Not to mention how the image of him in his own clinging bathing suit was seared on her brain.

Red crept up his neck and spread across his cheeks as he watched her squirm. He dropped his gaze. “Jane. Who is this person and why is she practically naked?”

Jane threw the dressing gown over Winnie’s shoulders. Winnie shrugged into it, tightening the waist with a vicious yank on the belt. Pissed at herself for feeling so self-conscious. She clutched the neckline together with a trembling hand.

“The spell brought her here.” Jane ran over to her brother and grabbed his hand. “She’s here to protect you.”

Winnie reared back in surprise. “I’m what?”

Bastian’s laugh sounded like a bark. Short and surprised. “This is the result of that spell you cast? I can think of little she can do for me that is suitable to be discussed within your hearing.”

Jane tilted her head and gave a small frown, Bastian’s words apparently lost on her innocent ears.

Winnie wasn’t quite so innocent. Fury boiled up within her. “Excuse me? Holy crap, this is one messed-up dream.”

“You will guard your tongue, miss.” Bastian grasped Jane’s hand, pulling her to his side and slightly behind as if to block her from Winnie.

“Oh, I’ll guard my tongue, as soon as you do. I’m surprised I didn’t dream you up some manners.” She pinched the flesh of her bicep viciously and winced at the pain. “Okay. That was supposed to wake me up.” Why can’t I wake up? “How did I get here and why are you all dressed like it’s the nineteenth century? Will someone please explain to me what’s going on?” Holy crap. Not a dream. Breathe. She had to breathe. She sucked air through her nose and released it in a gush. Again.

Desiring Lady Caro

Even though things are starting to slow down, I still have some blog stops left. Tomorrow I’m visiting Collette Cameron’s Blue Rose Blog with a giveaway. We’d love it if you’d stop by. Later in the week, I’ll be on Lady Smut, that should be interesting, and First Kiss. I’ll post the links on my Facebook page, as they go live.

There was some confusion about RomCom, completely on my part, I’m sure. They apparently would not allow a giveaway, so, I’ll have one. To be eligible, go by and post a comment here, and I will pick a winner.

Tomorrow morning I’m having orthoscopic surgery on my knee. It’s a fairly straight forward procedure, but I’ll ask for your prayers and good wishes anyway.

Now I’ll leave you with some pictures.

Desiring Lady Caro

Desiring Lady Caro

Here is mine from Desiring Lady Caro, regarding the food on B2B.

She tried to keep her tone light and reminded herself that she was not going to ruin this dream world, but then, unable to help herself, she said, “You do not have to stay with me, you know.” Suddenly her throat was sore. Yet she had to tell him. “I’ll understand if you need a mistress.”

Huntley scowled. It was the first time he’d frowned so seriously at her. When he spoke, his tone was harsh. “No.”

“You needn’t be angry with me.” What right did he have to be incensed with her when she was giving him the freedom to be with other women that most men wanted?

“I have no intention of being unfaithful. No good ever comes of it. This will all work itself out,” he growled, and went back to his pasta.

For some ridiculous reason, her heart lightened, and it shouldn’t have. This marriage was so unfair to him. The waiters returned with trays of other foods. Huntley must have planned another dinner like the one last night. She smiled. “Thank you.”

Shedding his frown, his lips tilted up. “I hope you like what the chef and I have selected. The dishes here are much more Austrian than Italian.”

As before they inspected the offerings on the sideboard, he hovered over her and helped her choose the dishes to try first. She turned her head toward him and, for a moment, their faces were close together. His gaze dropped to her mouth and rose, almost at once, back to her eyes. Her heart had stopped when she’d thought he was going to kiss her. Thankfully, he didn’t, but he was still too close. “I think I have enough food for now.”

He held out her chair and, after filling his plate, joined her. Once Caro had finished the last piece of venison, she leaned back in her chair. “All of it was wonderful. I don’t think I could eat another bite.”

A wicked smile appeared on his lips. “Oh, I think you might eat just a little more, my lady.”

He stood and walked to the bell-pull. After giving it a short tug, he sat back down. The door opened and a waiter entered the room carrying a large platter. She sniffed and sat up, then looked. “A chocolate torte? Oh, Huntley, thank you!”

The waiter placed the plate on the table and cut them both slices of the cake. She took a forkful of the piece Huntley offered, and sighed. “It has fruit in it as well.” Caro held out the next bite to him. “Here, have a taste.”

Leaning over the table, Huntley touched her hand as he guided the fork to his lips and opened them. She drew a sharp breath as warmth infused her fingers. What on earth was that tingling, and why was it suddenly so hard to draw a breath?

Happy Sunday! What a week this has been!

CongratulationsLet’s begin with winners! Congratulations to Melissa Terry and Joanna Mortes for winning Desiring Lady Caro!!

I missed last Sunday because I was involved in the St. Thomas International Sailing Regatta, formerly the Rolex Regatta. That involved getting up early and arriving at the yacht club by 7 AM each morning. We didn’t get off the boat until around 5:30. Suffice it to say, that by the time I got home, all I wanted to do was go to bed.

here are some pictures.

Breakfast was available for all racers and volunteers. Breakfast

Hi seas

This was day one on the committee boat. It was a 57 foot power catamaran, and a few of us still had to take seasickness medicine. The seas were 6-8 feet. But the wind was great all weekend.

These are pictures of some of the boats finishing a race.Finishing

IC 24’s are all the same type of boat, so the race really depends on the skill of the sailors. Look at them all lined up. IC 24s

After the races were completed, I saw this New Zeeland sailor. I loved his eyes, so I introduced myself as a romance writer and asked if I could take his pictures. Obviously he said yes.

Please check in with me on Facebook for any more blog tour stops.

Have a great week!!
